Summers-Inman are pleased to announce that the Motor Vehicle Engineering Workshop for Leicester College has been shortlisted in the Small Non-Residential Scheme of the Year category at the 2016 ProCon Awards.
Summer-Inman acted as Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor and CDM Co-ordinator for the project.
The Motor Vehicle Engineering Workshop is a modern single storey teaching facility at Leicester College’s Abbey Park Campus designed to accommodate the growing numbers of learners signing up for motor vehicle engineering courses at the college.
The new workshop includes two classrooms and extensive practical facilities for car and motorcycle skills. The steel framed building provides 600 square metres of workshop and teaching spaces with facilities for up to 80 learners at one time and includes a large arched feature window to maximise natural light in the classrooms. In addition the building is fitted with state-of-the-art mechanical and electrical installations such as electronically operated car ramps, compressed air lines, retractable vehicle extraction ventilation systems, high level radiant panels, LED lighting and IT installations throughout.
Summers-Inman are pleased to announce that Teesside University’s £20m ‘The Curve’ was the winner at the RICS North East Project Awards in the two categories in which it was nominated; Best Project for Innovation and Best Project for Regeneration. The Curve also won the main award for overall Best Project of the Year. Summers-Inman were integral in assisting the University develop the design competition and selecting the Architect for the scheme. We subsequently acted as Quantity Surveyor and CDM Co-ordinator for the project whilst also providing cross-discipline professional advice and support to all members of the delivery team.
The Curve forms part of the Teesside University’s Campus Heart which also involved the pedestrianisation of part of Southfield Road, the installation of a “living wall” with a vertical garden and LED screen and the extension and refurbishment of the Orion Building. Summers-Inman undertook the role of Quantity Surveyor and CDM Co-ordinator on the pedestrianisation works and the works to the Orion Building and Project Manager, Quantity Surveyor and CDM Co-ordinator on the living wall.
Acting as Employers Agent and Cost Consultant Summers Inman have this month handed over a new office building named Enterprise House at Drumpellier, North Lanarkshire. The building designed by 3D Reid is a joint venture between Fusion Assets and Stirling based Ogilvie Developments and consists of flexible office space ranging from 1,500 sq ft to a maximum 8,000 sq ft. Located at a prime position for Scotland’s major motorway network, it is also served locally by Kirkwood Rail station and provides modern, accessible, energy efficient facilities for local business, social enterprises and start-ups in the Coatbridge area.
