Summers-Inman boasts an impressive and varied team of staff members, supporting the successful delivery of work on a national basis from our seven offices. In the London office, we have experienced teams of Programme Managers, Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Building Surveyors. Our team brings a wealth of expertise to each project.
One particular staff member we would like to highlight is Calum Maynard, a Building Surveyor from our London office, specialising in damp and mould surveys, EPC assessments, and condition surveys for large programmes of stock. Calum works in a multitude of sectors and has supported both our Building Surveying and Project Management teams on the successful delivery of works. In addition, Calum is working towards his RICS accreditation. Between surveys and studies, Calum has also managed to find the time to train several times a week and nurture another successful career – in fencing.
Starting aged 11, and with the support of his dad (who also fences, and continues to do so now in ‘Veteran’ events), Calum has successfully worked his way through numerous competitions to reach a ranking of 5th in the UK.
Originally inspired by a fencing scene featuring James Bond in ‘Die Another Day’, Calum has used his quick thinking, attention to detail, and desire to be the best in both his day job and his sport. This has resulted in him representing England as an Epeeist fencer, for which he came 9th in the recent Australian Commonwealth Games. England as a team came 1st.
In 2020, Calum went to Budapest and received his best score ever. He intended to travel to Columbia and continue his winning streak, but lockdown halted any international travel plans. His training schedule continued throughout the pandemic with virtual sessions. Calum has plans to travel again and continue to meet the likes of Pierce Brosnan’s stunt double, or an Olympic silver medallist fencer (who he competed against when he was only 16).
Calum hopes to make the GB Olympic squad for Paris 2024, and we at Summers-Inman hope to support Calum through this.
