Associate Director
Ewen McRobie, an Associate Director based out of our Newcastle Office and has over 20 years’ experience in the construction industry. Ewen began his construction career in the public sector working firstly for Cumbria County Council as a Capital Spend Programme Officer managing both rural and urban regeneration projects before moving to Northumberland County Council to operate as a Property Development Officer enabling the development of large-scale infrastructure projects such as Northumberland Business Park, North of Newcastle and Ramparts Business Park in Berwick-upon-Tweed. From here Ewen moved into private property development within the medical sector, focusing on the development of multi-practice GP centres with ancillary services such as community dentistry, community mental health, minor ops and pharmacy services. The rest of Ewen’s 20+ years tenure within construction industry to date has been spent predominantly within main contracting, working with companies such as Willmott Dixon and Interserve providing bid management, framework management and business development solutions.
Ewen has been heavily involved in numerous varied and notable capital developments such as Durham University’s Ogden Centre for Fundamental Physics, Newcastle City Centre Police Station for Northumbria Police and the redevelopment of the former iconic Art Deco Coop building at Newgate Street in Newcastle, converted into a 184 bed Premier Inn hotel. Further to this, Ewen has managed the development of numerous national and regional framework bid submissions such as Scape, ProCure 21+, NEPO, NEUPC, Pagabo, to name but a few. Upon successful re-tendering of the Scape Framework whilst at Willmott Dixon, Ewen operated as the North East Framework Manager for Scape and delivered circa £50m turnover per annum in new build contracts.
Outside of work Ewen is a frequent visitor to his local gym and is a member of Tynedale Harriers running club where he is currently undertaking a coaching qualification to enable him to operate a couch to 5K introduction to running group for those interested in taking up the sport for the first time. When time allows Ewen also enjoys reading contemporary fictional literature and cooking curries from scratch – the hotter the better!
