Ian is an active Chartered Project Manager and Quantity Surveyor with over 30 years’ continuous experience in Property and Construction Consultancy.

Following periods in senior roles with David Langdon and with North Tyneside Council, Ian joined Summers-Inman in 2002, becoming a Local Director in 2008.

He has in-depth experience across all sectors of the industry, both public and private, with particular specialism in Education, Health and Local Government. He is very familiar with public accountability and the culture of local economy benefit, and the processes and procedures for Best Value.

Ian is responsible for managing several key frameworks, including our membership of the NEPO and NEUPC frameworks, and for managing some of our most important clients.

As Head of the Building Design Agency, Ian was instrumental in structuring, developing and implementing the UK’s first major strategic partnering alliance in the public sector – the North Tyneside Partnering Agreement – which was a ‘Times 100 National Award Winner’ for business innovation.

Ian acts as Director-in-Charge on major, complex multi-million-pound schemes. He recently led our services on two national award-winning schemes: The Curve for Teesside University and the Centre for Fundamental Physics for Durham University, the latter a Daniel Libeskind design.

In his spare time, Ian enjoys photography, live music and travelling.
