Project Outline: The scheme comprised of a new build 25m x 8-lane swimming pool complete with 12mx 12m learner pool, a multi-sports hall to include activities such as 3 no squash courts, combat, 5-a-side, badminton, gymnastics, etc as well as a 200-station fitness suite and aerobics room. The project also included the relocation of a crazy golf course and a new bowling green and clubhouse.
Services: Quantity Surveying and Cost Management services, including feasibility studies, business cases, detailed cost planning, procurement advice, tender documentation, value management and risk assessments.
Roles and Achievements: As cost managers we were fully instrumental in formulating the target cost price, working closely with the contractor and sub-contractors to ensure the affordability of the project. Very high ratings for energy efficiency and sustainability were required. Workshops were held and options developed. We carried out cost appraisals, including detailed life-cycle exercises, which produced the best value-for-money solution and contributed with BREEAM points.
