Project Outline: The Dame Margaret Barbour Teaching & Learning Facility is a new-build academic building located on the Richardson Road site. The five-story building spans 9,000m2 and houses various facilities, including a lecture theatre for 300 students, social learning spaces, seminar rooms, a teaching kitchen, a sensory suite, clinical suites, and academic and postgraduate offices. The project was designed to support academic programs in areas such as psychology, nutrition, and sport and exercise sciences. The building’s design also integrated with nearby student accommodation and a new sports center that was under construction.

Roles and Achievements: Summers-Inman served as the Lead Consultant, providing Project Management and Contract Administration services. The project was successfully delivered on time and within budget. Continual communication and a good relationship with the client played a crucial role in overcoming challenges and delivering the project successfully within budget. The project faced challenges related to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on site operations and material procurement.
