Client: Brackley Property Development Ltd.
Location: Edgar Mobbs Way, Northampton
Value: £2.5m
Project Outline: Veolia is a world leader in environmental solutions; providing a comprehensive range of waste, water and energy management services designed to build the circular economy and preserve scarce raw materials. Creating a brand new 1,434m2 waste transfer station to store and assess household waste before being sent on for recycling or disposal. It has been constructed alongside a new welfare building (provided by Elliott) for the management and support team.
Services: Employer’s Agent, Quantity Surveying
Roles and Achievements: Best value has been achieved by undertaking a series of value engineering exercises which resulted in cost savings across several areas, as well as making positive contributions to carbon management and assisting in achieving reductions in carbon emissions. For example, utilising the existing fencing on site – providing a saving on cost, programme and waste.
Throughout construction, we managed all end user changes by producing a live tracker for the contractor to price against. Once a cost was agreed with all parties, we would then raise the appropriate change order paperwork (including any mark-ups, fees, etc.) and instruct the contractor accordingly.
We ensured that the contractor implemented all the Good Practice measures one would expect on a major construction site and maintained a clear and constant interface with Elliott during the installation of the welfare building.
