Graduate/Assistant Quantity Surveyor (Full Time) – Edinburgh

Job Summary       

Summers-Inman is a leading independent, multi-disciplinary construction and property consultancy. We have 7 offices throughout the UK, the firm employs 115+ staff and has operated for 100 years within the industry.

Due to increasing workload we are currently seeking a Graduate/Assistant Quantity Surveyor in our Edinburgh office, who will be assisting our senior cost consultants in a wide range of duties, including:

  • Preparation of cost estimates, cost plans, tender documents, interim valuations of construction
  • Providing general support in cost management and financial reporting
  • Attending meetings to provide QS input, review project progress and present project data as appropriate
  • Working on own projects as appropriate

This role provides a challenging and rewarding opportunity to develop within a dynamic team, supported by a medium-sized multi-professional consultancy.

Skills and experience required

Ideally you will have:

  • Quantity Surveying BSc or BSc (Hons) degree (accredited by RICS) or near completion of course
  • A desire to work towards MRICS status
  • Relevant work experience, gained either post-graduation or during placements
  • Employer’s Agent and Development Monitoring experience (preferred but not essential)
  • Understanding of the principal standard forms of building contracts
  • Familiarity with cost estimating software
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Desire to find a long-term opportunity and progress your career with a leading consultancy
  • Full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle
